What you should know about CBD
Everyone is talking about CBD and it's growing in popularity.
This historical plant is not only used in industry or textile production, but also in health and wellness.
The latter is increasingly focused on the uses of the hemp plant’s active ingredient, CBD. Studies related to CBD suggest that the ingredient has a beneficial effect on our health. In fact, research is being conducted into whether regular consumption of CBD oil could relieve pain and also help the body reduce inflammation and various chronic diseases. One of the most common forms of ingesting CBD is CBD oil. But what is CBD oil, how is the active ingredient processed and what should you look out for when buying CBD oil?
The natural active ingredient cannabidiol (CBD) is obtained from the leaves and flowers of the hemp plant. In contrast to THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is known for its intoxicating effects, CBD does not trigger any psychoactive effects. CBD is therefore commercially available in various dosage forms in the European Union without a prescription. It is usually declared as a dietary supplement in the form of CBD oil or drops.
They are usually taken as a tincture, with a few drops placed under the tongue and swallowed after a minute or two. They are also popular as cosmetics, especially among those with eczema and acne.
How is cannabidiol extracted?
In order to obtain CBD in a natural and environmentally friendly way, hemp varieties containing CBD should be grown in the EU. It is particularly important that it is grown organically, otherwise pesticides will also get into the oil during the subsequent extraction. In addition, the right time of harvest and the variety used are crucial for high quality.
The most common methods of extracting CBD from flowers are CO2 extraction and ethanol extraction.
The CO2 extraction is particularly suitable for production on an industrial scale and is characterized by a mild taste and a light color.
Extraction with ethanol (food alcohol) is preferred on a smaller scale. The method we prefer takes up to 10 work steps and 100 grams of high-quality hemp flowers to produce a small bottle of this valuable oil.
Due to the gentle and complex processing, a so-called full-spectrum oil or an extract from hemp flowers is produced, in which the cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids are retained. The oil obtained in this way has a more intense taste and a darker color.
High-quality oils are therefore more expensive, but also contain a larger number of plant substances that contribute to the effect of the CBD oil.
With both extraction methods, the naturally used flower material has a great influence on the quality of the CBD extract.
The CBD extract obtained in this way is then mixed with a carrier oil. The oil makes it easier for the body to absorb CBD and the dosage is easier to manage.
For the production of our organic CBD oil, we only use our organic hemp flowers, from which we obtain the CBD extract using our preferred ethanol extraction. Of course, we only use high-quality, cold-pressed organic hemp oil as a carrier oil. So we are in the fortunate position of being able to offer certified organic oil.
Several CBD oils are available on different websites, with the products on offer varying greatly in terms of price and quality. Those interested in buying CBD oil are therefore faced with the challenge of finding the perfect product for their needs. Excellent quality can be identified by examining the product declaration, the oil and flower material used, and the manufacturing process. It is important to be careful not to use synthetic cannabinoids.
CBD drops are generally well tolerated. However, the use of CBD is not recommended for children or during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and patients with chronic illnesses should also clarify possible interactions with existing medications with their doctor before they start taking CBD. When storing the oil, it is also important that it is protected from extreme heat and direct sunlight. Storage in the refrigerator is ideal. The CBD oil should also be used within months of opening the bottle.
CBD hat ein breites Wirkungsspektrum und wird daher in verschiedenen Bereichen eingesetzt. So wird eine CBD-Therapie,CBD has a broad spectrum of activity and is therefore used in various areas. CBD therapy, for example, is generally considered to be well tolerated if it adheres to the recommended dosage. The optimal amount, however, is individual and it is advisable to start with a low dosage too
